System not allowing deletion of Spyware File

I found when running Norton Antivirus a Spyware ".exe"
file called redirect5.exe. Symantec could not delete the
file and I did not want to exclude it from future scans
so I simply skipped it. Symantec recommended performing
a complete disk scan, deleting any identified files and
removing a Registry entry referenced. I followed their
recommendation however when I tried to delete the "exe"
file I received a Windows error "Error Deleting File or
Folder" "Cannot delete redirect5. Access denied. Make
sure the disk is not full or write protected and that the
file is not currently in use." I moved the file to a new
folder I created in Norton AntVirus' Quarantine folder
under program files and deleted the Registry reference
using regedit. Any suggestion on why I cannot delete the
offending Spyware file?

Thanks, Mike

Mike, I'm no expert at all so take what I say with a BIG grain of salt.
I use a program called spybot that usually does a good job eliminating spyware for me.
I noticed that sometimes if the spyware is running in the task manage, I can't delete it.
However if I end the task, then I can delete it. If you haven't downloaded
Spybot, do so and update it. It's free, and it's widely used and recomended by many people.
I also use another program which is not free, it's from PanicWare and it's called "SureClean."
Many times, that program will allow me to delete things that Windows seems to stop me
from deleteing saying that the file is being used by someother program.
Hope I was able to be of some help.
Larry
