System keeps restarting

I have windows 2000 professional, when I turn on my
computer, it boots up and when it reaches the password
entry screen to log onto windows, it restarts itself. The
computer will do this over and over. It will not allow me
to get onto Windows, not even in safe mode. My only hope
is that the problem can be fixed through DOS. If so, how
can I do this and what do you think the problem is?
