From what I've seen on this group, I'm confident someone here can shed some
light on this:
What are the chances System Information (System Tools) will make a mistake?
New computer from a trusted manufacturer. It's loaded with speedy processor
(3.2 Gh), memory (1 G), 128MB video, etc. Everything works good and fast,
although I have yet to install the program I expect to use most (Adobe
Photoshop CS), or open the other resource gobbler (Premiere 6.5).
So, I was a little surprised to see in the System Information System
Summary, these two lines:
"Processor x86 Family 15 Model 2 Stepping 9 GenuineIntel ~3192 Mhz
Processor x86 Family 15 Model 2 Stepping 9 GenuineIntel ~3192 Mhz"
also revealed are
OS Name WinXP Pro
Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 1 Build 2600
Bios Version/Date AMI 2002. 9/19/2003
SMBIOS Version 2.3
and
Hardware Abstraction Layer Version="5.1.2600.1106 [xpsp1.020828-1920]"
etc.
Did System Information stumble? Another, similar computer from the same
manufacturer reports the expected single processor line.
Is it likely there *is* a second processor in there? Is there another way to
determine that without opening the case? Do you think I will offer to pay
the manufacturer for the unexpected bonus, if indeed it is there?
Hm?
Thank you for your kind attention.
