system gets real slow

I have an XP box that Windows hangs or gets real slow
when opening Windows Explorer. I also see in Task Manager
that the processor is using 100%. I lok at explorer.exe
on the processes and it is using 100% of the processor.
Usually have to end task on explorer. Any ideas?? All
patches up to date and machine is clean of virus. Also I
cannnot stop any popups on the internet. I have cleaned
everything i could find for popups and they still keep
coming.

After going to page, downloaded memory checker. ran
program. Works well. Did not find any problems. Rebooted
and everything came back up ok.
