Sam Holbrook

I get the following in the System Event Log:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Print
Event Category: None
Event ID: 23
Date: 9/6/2008
Time: 19:31:06
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Computer: SAMUELSHOLBROOK
Description:
Printer SHARP AL-1000 Series failed to initialize because a suitable SHARP
AL-1000 Series driver could not be found.

I don't have a Sharp AL-1000 Series Copier/Printer installed on my
Workstation (WinXP Pro).

Printer and Faxes doesn't show a Sharp Printer.

Server Properties doesn't have a Sharp Printer entry.

However the System Registry Database has the following:

HKCU\Printers\DevModePerUser\SHARP AL-1000 Series

HKCU\Printers\DevModes2\SHARP AL-1000 Series

HKCU\Printers\Settings\Wizard\driver name(SHARP AL-1000 Series)

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Print\Printers\Sharp
AL-1000 Series

HKLM\System\ControlSet001\Control\Print\Printers\Sharp AL-1000 Series

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Printers\Sharp AL-1000 Series

HKU\S-1-5-21-436374069-2111687655-839522115-1003\Printers\DevModePerUser\SHARP
AL-1000 Series

HKU\S-1-5-21-436374069-2111687655-839522115-1003\Printers\DevModes2\SHARP
AL-1000 Series

HKU\S-1-5-21-436374069-2111687655-839522115-1003\Printers\Settings\Wizard\driver
name(SHARP AL-1000 Series)

How can I delete the SHARP AL-1000 Series entries in the System Registry
Database without compromising the integrity of the System Registry?

TIA

Regards,

Sam Holbrook

install the driver for the device (I'll assume "SHARP AL-1000 Series"), then
restart the spooler service.

If a printer appears in the printers folder, either delete the printer and
use the uninstall program to remove the driver or if the uninstall
application will remove the printer and driver just use it to remove all.
