System error 66 : The network resource type is not correct

This is the message I'm getting trying to use the ol' net use lpt1
\\compname\printername command.

It has worked before, but I recently reloaded my comp and now I'm
getting this message. Nothing has changed on the host computer with
the printer. I can print from windows fine, but need to print from a
DOS app as well.

Any clues?

Verify that the share name is correct. The printer objects name can be
different from what the share name is. If you go to the properties of
the printer and look sharing tab you will see the name of the share. I
believe net use is looking for that. You can use the net view
\\<servername> to see what is being shared.
