System error 1219. Multiple connections to a server

P

per.seitzberg

Hi!

I got this message

"System error 1219 has occurred.
Multiple connections to a server or shared resource by the same user,
using more than one user name, are not allowed. Disconnect all
previous connections to the server or shared resource and try
again.."

when I try to log on to a server i earlier have been logged on to.
But
I have disconnected all network drives in Explorer Tools and the same
with t.ex. Net Use z: /delete.

But I still can not log on.

I understand the error messages quite well, but untill now, the only
way for me to reconnect, is to restart the computer. It works, but
there must be another way to clear the computers 'memory' in one way
or another.

Can anybody help me where to clear this former connection????

If this machine is on a domain, do you have multiple user names on the
domain?

You mention that you "earlier" were logged on to the server. How much
earlier? Did the server reboot (possibly invalidating your old
session)? Did anything else change between the last successful
connection with the server and the first unsuccessful connection?

Thanks. My server is not on a domain.

I have more than one user account with different rights on the server.
When I log on with the user backup, I can use the backup-folder. I
then delete the NETWORK CONNECTIONS from the tools in EXPLORER and
from a dos command prompt I NET USE Z: /delete to clear the connection
stored there.

Next I try to log on to the server with a different username to have
some other rights, but here I get the error 1219..... There must be
another place, where windows remember the old BACKUP user. As I
understand the error message, it is my local computer that gives my
the error message not allowing more than one unik connection to the
server.
