System Crash - Registry File is Corrupt

It appears the storage unit (location the registry file was saved) has gone
bad. When windows tries to boots it goes to the dreaded blue screen and tells
me the registry hive (file) is corrupt. It lists a file path but I don't
recall it now, it ends in Software.

I have two questions.
1) I have the hard drive connected to another computer through a SATA to USB
adapter and can access the driver. However when I try to enter my identity,
which is the admin identity, it states that access is denied. I do not have a
password set on the identity. Is there a way around this so I can access the
data in my identity?
2) Is there a way to save a new registry file on the hard drive so the
system would but. I understand anything I installed would not load properly.
