SysPrep

I have a question about going about using SysPrep versus Ghosting.

Ok if say Windows XP Professional needs to be installed on multiple
machines all with the same configuration using a Volume Liscense Key
then what is the difference between using SysPrep.exe and just
ghosting the image from on fully completed installed copy of Windows
XP to another machine...I don't get the difference...can anyone please
explain what the purpose of Sysprep versus Ghosting ?

Thanks in advance

I don't think SysPrep can actually do the imaging, can it? I think you
still need a third party imaging program (like Ghost or TrueImage).

Blue,

Sysprep cleans out the SID's, computer name...

You create an INF file with the licence key, admin password (if required)... then you can
pull back the image with Norton Ghost. So when you ghost a machine it will boot & all you
will need to do is name it...

There are different versions of Sysprep so you'll need to download free the correct
version from Microsoft

Another thing you can do is get an OEM System Builder CD & use the wizard to create the
installation, but it will still need to be installed which is slower than the ghosting
process
