The setup-deploy group hasn't had any traffic in over a year, so I
thought I'd post this here.
It's been a while since I've used Sysprep, so I'm a bit fuzzy on the
details. But ... a friend just purchased a locally built computer with
an OEM copy of WinXP Home SP2 on it. She's successfully activated her
copy of Windows and downloaded most of the latest updates. (She
currently has dialup but will have a high-speed connection in a few
days.) Anyway, on bootup, a Sysprep 2.0 window shows asking to test the
config, reseal for the user, and there's another option I don't recall.
I'd originally tried to test and then reseal the setup, but the
screen always displays on bootup. As I've configured the machine to her
liking, can I get rid of this Sysprep window by simply deleting the
Sysprep directory? As I recall, it should be possible to leave the
directory behind, but I can see no way to get rid of this window
otherwise. The shop is closed right now, so can anyone tell me what to
do about this? I've gone ahead and created a second account, as it just
occurred to me today that whomever was configuring her machine probably
did not finish the Sysprep routine.
TIA,
Margaret
