Sys tray icon size linked to "window border" setting?

A

Andy

Running XP Pro/SP2.

The size of my icons in the system tray seems linked to the value
used to sizes the thickness all Windows borders.

I get to it by Control Panel > Display >
Appearance > Advanced > Item > select Active/Inactive window border.

I am sure this was not the case before. ISTR using a value of 25 to
give me nice a big red close button on all windows.

Now I find that a value of 25 enlarges the icon size of anything in
the taskbar (sys tray, Quick launch, other tool bars, tabs for active
appliactions).

Icons in menu are unaffected and so are small icons in a Window's
icon "List" view.

How can I un-make this connection?

Are you sure you didn't change something else - I tried changing the
Active window border value on my desktop and although it did enlarge
the border, it didn't change the size of the minimize, maximize, or
close buttons...

Your result seems odd. If the border is bigger or smaller then
surely the buttons in the top border would grow or shink.

to fix up this sort of issue, choose one of the two default windows themes
(blue or gray/silver) to get things reset to defaults, and then retweak to
your liking.
