SyQuest SparQ 1.0 GB Parallel Port Drive

Cory

I know SyQuest declared backruptcy in '98 and obviously
didn't get around to developing drivers for the XP OS,
but I was wondering if there was any way around that
problem to get this SyQuest SparQ drive recognized by the
XP OS and get it working. Right now all we get is the PC
booting up halfway 2 or 3 times before it actually loads
all of Windows XP, and the drive still doesn't work.

Any help and or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Cory

Hello

Replace it, your best move, if they are no drivers for it
just won't work, maybe win2k drivers but I would just
get a different drive,

Hi, Cory.

The Usenet newsgroup alt.syquest was very active, but has faded away to just
about nothing now. The SyQuest website is just a skeleton of its former
self, but you can still find some drivers there: www.syquest.com. It has
links to a site with Win2K and WinXP drivers (which I haven't actually
tried).

At least as important as your model (SparQ) and OS (WinXP) is the interface
that the drive uses: IDE, parallel port or SCSI; internal or external.
