synchronize contacts sub-folders

I have always used sub-folders to manage my contacts. I have custom views for
certain contacts sub-folders, e.g. for a particular client. When I go to a
sub-folder I get that view for those contacts, e.g. in some cases viewed by
company with custom columns. I have always used the Pocket PC Contact
Synchronizer from MS to synch all sub-folders into the "Contacts" folder, so
they could be synch'd with my PDA. Now I'm using Outlook 2003, and it seems
PC Contact Synchronizer no longer works. Any other suggestions? What is the
recommended method for doing what I need to do? I looked at using attributes
years ago, but they seemed clunky for over 2000 contacts as I have to deal
with, and not able to give me the custom views I need.
Thanks fo advice.

Mate. You could put contacts all back into your Contact folder (which does
Synch with PDAs) and Define Views that suit you. These can be filtered to
only show you people from a certain Company or Category or State.

That's likely to work better for you than splitting Contacts into multiple
folders. It also means you can send a Christmas Email to all clients by
performing a single mailmerge rather than 1 to each folder's Contacts.

Thanks Judy. One of the big challenges I found when I investigated this
approach is assigning categories to 2000+ contacts. And then, as with all
filing Systems, what happens when I want to, say, re-categorize a few hundred
of them? Do you know of any tools that help manage the contact categories?
Also, when I do my annual cleaning of my computer, how do I save all my
custom views so they get recovered?
Thanks again.
