Synching mail problem

I am having 2 problems with mail on my server and Outlook 2003.
1) Incoming mail is not deleted according to the settings I have selected in
Outlook, (to delete when deleted from Inbox ). I know to empty the garbage
first, and it will delete it, it still doesn't.
2) Sent mail is not getting saved on my server at all. It is saved in
Outlook, but when I go to my server, none of it is there.
Adelphia is my server.
WIn XP
Thank you.

Your first attempt at resolving this should be to speak to the Adelphia
support staff. It is they whom you pay for the service, so avail yourself
of their help.

This started when I installed Outlook 2003, it wasn't doing it with Outlook
2000, so is it still a server issue?

I never claimed it was a server issue. What I said was that since you pay
Adelphia for their support, you should first avail yourself of that support.

What type of account are you using? POP? IMAP?

So, you're saying that when you close Outlook, your Deleted Items folder is
not emptying?

Sent items are stored locally on your client in the Sent Items folder in
Outlook. Your server won't know anything about that.

This is a POP account, I don't think it is a server issue, since it wasn't
happening with OUtlook 2000,. If the only thing I changed was my Outlook,
and the problem happened then, leads me to think it is Outlook 2003, or can
Norton Firewall prevent something from happening?
When I close Outlook, my deleted mail IS deleted from the OUtlook Deleted
Items folder, but NOT from my server, even tho in Outlook I have the option
checked to remove from the server when I delete from Outlook.
Re: what you said about sent items, are you saying they will only be stored
in My Outlook Sent Mail folder on my computer and it won't put it in my
server's sent mail folder when I do "send/receive"? If that is what you
mean, is there a way to change that? I'd like copies of sent mail to be on
my server as well.
Thank you.

Of course it can, since that's the whole purpose of a firewall. Outlook
2000 and Outlook 2003 are separate applications and yuo may need to tell the
firewall that the old app is gone and the new one is in use. I know Zone
Alarm works that way..

Do you have the option enabled to leave copied of deleted items on the
server?

That's exactly what I mean.

No. POP servers (incoming) don't have any concept of "folders" other than
"Inbox" and can't be made to have one. SMTP servers (outgoing) don't have
any concept of folders at all.

Hi Brian
Thank you for your response.
When you said this: "yuo may need to tell the
firewall that the old app is gone and the new one is in use. "
How do I do that?
ALso regarding this:
"Do you have the option enabled to leave copied of deleted items on the
I have both these options checked: "Remove from server when removed from
deleted items" &" Remove from server after 10 days". It only does the second
one, it won't delete them when they are deleted from my deleted items folder.
I would like them too, instead of the 10 day option.
Thank you.

Read your firewall documentation.

I don't know how to address this, as I've not seen it before. Sorry.
