Symantec Ghost Console 7.5

Hello everyone!

I have the following problem with Symantec Ghost Console 7.5.

I have a IBM Netvista 2.4GHz machine that I have installed windows
2003 server Standard edition. I have several clients that also are IBM
Netvista machines.

I use the Ghost Console to reghost these clients every night with
"WinXP Pro with SP2", because these clients runs different Automatic
tests, and we want clean installations on these clients when the
automatic tests are started.

Now, my problem is that the push ghost does not work. I can install
the client with "Remote client install" without any problems. I can
create a ghost image from the ghost console, but when I try to push a
ghost from the ghost console, the client reboots as it should do, and
starts up in pc-dos as it should do. Then the symantec ghost starts up
and says, "relocating ghost image and reboots". When the client
reboots it can't connect with the server again. It only says on the
dos prompt: "...Sending status to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1347" and repeats
this message for about three times and then it says "Lost contact with
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx". Then it repeats the first message again and this
goes on for ever.

On the server side, there is a message, saying it "waits for clients
to connect!"

If I wait for some time (about 2-3 minutes) and restart the client
with "CTRL-ALT-DEL" everything starts up and the client will be
reghosted. Why does it not start the first time?

I would really appreciate any help in this matter.

Hmm, so you want to have a fresh image loaded on those several clients,
before testing occurs?
Unfortunately I do not have an answer for your particular Ghost console (and
multicating?) problem.
Alternatively, how long would it take to pull image manually (boot with
bootable CD, execute batch from your server share to pull and load disk
image)?
Added benefit:You would not have to contaminate your client environment with
Ghost software.
Simplicity: You would not have to worry about Ghost console and multicasting
bugs.

It is also possible to automate/schedule above process, if it is run from a
hidden disk partition instead of a CD.
