Symantec Fax Starter Edition - how to de-install

Symantec Fax Starter Edition is installed on one of our XP Home Edition
machines. We don't know if it got installed as part of XP, or as part of
MSFT Office 2000 Premium, or what.

We want to get rid of it. Anyone know how to un-install it, please?

It does not appear on the list of installed programs in Control Panel, and
if I click on the toolbar at the left of that list to add/remove Windows XP
features, the optional Fax accessory that could have been installed with
Windows XP has NOT been installed (the checkbox for fax is empty).

We never have used it, never will on that machine, and it keeps us from
having more than 2 users logged on at the same time. We have 4 kids that use
this computer, and as they rip through homework, they take turns on the
computer. It will save them time if they can all 4 be logged on at the same
time, that way as they take turns the time to logon is way shorter.

But, Symantec Fax Starter Edition complains as we try to log on the 3rd kid.
Says its named pipes starter can't start named pipes.

We never use this thing, never will, just want it to go away. Any help
un-installing it much appreciated!

thanks, Bruce

If you took the "Standard" install of Office 2000, you probably
got it there. You need to use the "Add/Remove" function of Office
and go through the Tools listings. More than likely it will be found
there. Just change it's setting from "Run from my Computer" to
"Not Installed". You access Add/Remove by re-running the Setup
module on the Office disk.

Yup, that was it - many thanks, and yeah, I should have thought of this
myself (blush)
