switching hard drives

Hi,
I want to change a hard drive 40g 7200 rpm from an old slow computer, to a
new faster one that has a 20g 5400 rpm hard drive on it. The 40g hard drive
has Win XP Pro installed, but I believe it is a OEM version. It is
registered with Microsoft and also activated on the computer I want to
remove it from. Is this going to present any problems? The 20g hard drive
has Win ME installed on it.

Don't worry about it, Dick. If it's been more than 120 days since you last
activated your OEM copy of XP, then activation should go smoothly over the
internet. If it's been less than 120 days, then you will have to activate
by phone.

Dick, when connecting the 40G to the newer computer use the Secondary IDE
channel and set it as
master. Then format the drive from WinMe.

Yes. Such an OEM version is licensed solely to the machine on which it
is first installed, and may not be transferred to another
