Switching from Groupwise to Outlook

Apparently in November our organization will be switching from Groupwise to
Outlook. I'm sure (I hope) our Info/Tech guys will help us, but I just
wanted to get a feel for if this is a smooth transition, or is it difficult?
I have A LOT of information (850+) Contacts, thousands of emails, etc., and
I'm hoping it all transfers smoothly to Outlook. Anyone have any experiences
or general advice as to what I/we will be facing?

We made the switch a number of years ago. From the user end it seemed fairly
straight forward. We actually took an Outlook orientation class and while we
were in the class our network team did the individual mailbox migration for
those users in the class. This worked great in most cases.

We were asked to get our boxes as small as we could before the change. I'm
not sure if it is still the case now as it was then, but Exchange stores a
copy of an e-mail for each recipient where as GroupWise stored only one
message for all recipients. This means that the network storage increases
exponentially. (Again, I'm going on old info, this may or may not be the
case any more.)

I believe that there was also a tool that could be used to convert our
GroupWise archives to make them accessible in Outlook.

Again, from the user side of things, it was no big deal other than learning
a new program.
