Switcheing between two Windows Explorer windows causes crash

I have a user who is experiencing a problem that I can't find a solution for.
He's copying files from his "My Documents" folder to several folders on a
server drive. This is the sequence of events that leads to the crash:
1. Open two windows explorer sessions;
2. Browse to a folder on the server drive to check the contents;
3. Switch to the window showing his "My Documents" folder and select the
file to copy;
4. Drag and drop the file in the relevant folder in the window showing the
server drive folder;
5. Browse to a different folder on the server drive.
6. Click on the window showing "My Folders"
This is where windows explorer chrashes and has to shut down.

The environment:
The computer is a Dell Optiplex 170L running Windows XP SP1a over a 100Mbps
CAT-5 network against a server running Windows 2003 server.
The user has local administrator rights.
No obvious faults have been found with the network connection.
The files being copied are AutoDesk DWF files.
The computer has AutoCAD 2005 and AutoDesk's DWF viewer 5 installed.
Network Associates McAffee VirusScan 7.10 enterprise is installed and running.

Any clues?

I have the same thing happening randomly using both Windows Explorer and IE.
Never sure if I dare open a 2nd window as sometimes it crashes and sometimes
not.

Just another example of the kind of crap MS keeps putting out as I'm
running a pretty clean pc XP-PRO/SP2
