switch user problem

Hi all,

I am trying to get my fast user switching in XP to work.

-fast user switching is enabled
-I am not on a domain
-offline files are disabled

heres what happens:

The first user can log in with no problems. When I push log off in the start
menu, followed by switch user, I am taken back to the welcome screen. I
click on the second user and it appears so be logging in. I then am flashed
with the background of the first user and it returns to the welcome screen.
I cant log on to a second user no matter what combination of users I try. If
anyone has heard of or seen a problem like this I would appreciate all the
info possible.
