Swen messages

Earlier this month, I had accidentally installed the SWEN
worm but downloaded the removal tools for both SWEN and
GIBE and ran the tools on my computer. However, every
morning that I turn on my computer and launch my email
program (Eudora) there are still these strange messages
supposedly coming from Microsoft with these install or
other .exe programs as attachments. Also, there are at
least three messages that are supposedly sent from me
that are all returned with notations like: "I'm sorry to
have to inform you that the message returned below could
not be delivered to one or more destinations."
"Undelivered message to"

Can someone tell me what else I should be looking for to
remove this worm totally?

Clare I'm receiving the same emails...I posted on this forum yesterday, inquiring about the worm Blaster, I had several emails supposedly with the patch attached...they were deleted (because my work is protected) but the message states that they contained the swen virus. I believe the Undelivered emails are the attempts of the worm to spread itself through our emails. Unfortunatly I have to advise for you...I'm still hoping to revive my two pc's at home...but you are not alone on this.. I posted my own string hoping there is someone that knows whats up???

The strange thing about it all is that after the removal
tools have completed, there's message that says that the
worm and it's components have all been removed. That's
why I'm wondering if there is yet another string of the
worm hidden someplace that the tools don't reach.

Have you opened any of the attachments? Or are they blocked by an antivirus? Did you install a patch?

Yes, I opened the first attachment
named: "install295.exe". This was when I first got the
worm on December 6th. But I didn't open any of the
others because I didn't like the way things were going.
And when I discovered I couldn't send out any email
messages (or receive any) immediately after running the
attachment, I logged onto the group here and posted my
dilemma. This is when answers came in that I'd installed
the SWEN/GIBE worm virus. I went to the Symantec website
and downloaded the removal tools and everything has been
fine except for the subject I posted today.

Perhaps now that the worm has your email address, it is repeatedly attempting to reinfect youand attempting to spread elsewhere using your name. That's what it looks like on my end. We at my office have never been infected with this worm, yet I have recieved several of these emails from Microsoft, and returned emails "Undelivered" to my work address. This has only beeen since yesterday, when I posted a question like I said. It seems like its "bulk" mailing me, but it's attack is uneffective due to Norton. If there is a patch that you can find, you should get it. I don't know about the Swen, so I couldn't tell you if it's available. ??
