suspended uninstallation of Net Framework

I tried to uninstallNet framework because after an updaue done approx Nov 15
2005 I had problems with Outlook and Norton Internet security which meant I
had to disable the Norton everytime I wanted to check or send email using
outlook. It didn't affect using hotmail through outlook. Also, I kept
receiving an update kb886903 which unsuccessfully installed. I reasoned, and
maybe falsely, that there was something wrong with the Net Framework original
updaye of 11/15. I used control panel to "remove it." It hung up and now I
cannot acces my word editing feature from within outlook. I tried the detect
and repair option but after a short time it returned a message about a
suspended uninstallation of Net framework. It asked if it should finisish it
(or sometign akin to that) and I said yes. It then just sat there and I
eventually had to use task manager to end the process. At this point I don't
know what the %)^^%&*^(expletive deleated) is wrong or how to diagnose and
the fix it. Any ideas?

What dotnet version are you using?

1.X, 2.X, WinfFX?
