I am trying to access my windows Update service located
on a windows 2000 server but the page "cannot be
displayed".
IIS is up and running ok with the SUSadmin folder
configured correctly. Even after deleting and running a
repair with the SUS install file.

I am receiveing two errors on the server system even logs:
Source: DCOM
Event ID: 10004
DCOM got an error "Overlapped I/O operation is in
progress. " and was unable to logon. \IWAM.PMAFILES in
order to run the server:
(3D14228D-FBE1-11D0-995D-00C04FD919C1)

AND

Source: W3SVC
Event ID: 36
The server failed to load application
/LM/W3SVC/1/ROOT/SUSAdmin. The error was 'The server
process could not be started because the configuration
identity is incorrect. check the username and password.

Which username is it trying to use? IWAM.PMAFILES is
setup on in the domain.

after replying to your other post I have found a solution. The problem is non-syncronized passwords between the user database, the IIS database and the Com database.

Refer to Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 29798

I chose to follow method 2 to sync my IUSR and IWAM user password with the IIS passwords. If you are on a domain controller you will have to set the user passwords in active directory instead of computer management.

I found this did not in and of itself solve the problem. I had to follow the instructions in the method 2 notes and sync the Com database using the synciwam.vbs -v utility.

You must restart IIS as the instuctions advise. My admin page started fine.

hope this help
