supress flash drive boot behaviour?

I have put a short cut to a network drive on my flash drive - whichever
computer i plug my flash drive into i can get instant access to my network
drive space - works fine

problem i have is everytime i plug in my flash drive it starts looking for
the network drive which can sometimes take ages

is there anyway to supress this boot activity?

i was wondering whether shortcut property might stop it - i have changed the
short cut type from drive shortcut to a conventional folder shortcut - makes
no difference

JethroUK - The default setting for a mapped drive is to connect at logon.
Unchecking that option (displayed in map drive dialogue box) may solve your
problem.
