Support for Canon 30D RAW files.

Dear Members:

I've just finished installing Windows XP RAW thumbnailer and image viewer
only to find that it doesn't support the files generated by my Canon 30D
digital SLR camera.

Do any of you know if there is a newer version of Windows XP
thumbnailer/viewer that offers support to the Canon 30D ?

In case there isn't one yet, do you know when Microsoft is planning to
release an update that will provide support to this camera ?

Thank you in advance.

I haven't seen any updates announced.
I suspect you have the current version
but maybe the following links will be

A possible solution is to go to the pixmantec web site, and download the
free version of their RAW converter.

Seems like a pretty useless tool. I downloaded it as well and it doesn't
support Pentax RAW files. The last update was before the Canon 30D was
introduced. The Microsoft RAW Image Thumbnailer and Viewer for Windows XP
shows MS should stay out of the digital imaging arena, if they can't keep up.
In fact it doesn't open the Nikon D200, and likely not the Nikon D80 files.

I have gone back to Thumbs Plus 5.01 even though Cerious says their RAW
plug-in is for versions 7.0 and up it installed and works fine with all the
RAW files I've tried as well as the Adobe DNG files.

I haven't found anything from MS to view my 30D raw files but Canon's own
ZoomBrowser software is excellent for viewing and comparing photos - far
more feature rich than Windows Explorer. It will quite happily display 30D
raw files but you can't zoom them. However, Canon's DPP software will
display, zoom, edit and convert the raw files to jpegs. Both ZB and DPP are
supplied with the 30D.

This plugin works for the 30D and Windows Explorer.....
