superscript = spellcheck = close?!

after reinstalling word 2007 i changed the keyboard shortcuts for superscript
and subscript to F7 and F8 respectivly. subscript works fine but pressing F7
brings up the old function (spellcheck). when this has completed it closes my
document. I have been unable to change this. now, pressing the original
shortcut (ctrl+shift++) or the button on the ribbon causes spellcheck/close.
toolsproofing (spellcheck) does not have a shortcut applied.
how can i change this? its incredibly frustrating.

Did you make sure to store the keyboard shortcuts in the Normal template (so
that they are available for all documents)?

yes, if i go to the nornal template at:

-> my docs
-->my user name
--->application data
---->microsoft
-----> templates
------>normal.doc

and open that then look at the keyboard shortcuts and make them default (
ctrl + shift+ +) then use that command it still opens the spellchecker then
the grammar then closes it.
when i change the shortcuts at:
-> office
--> word options
---> customize
----> keyboard shortcuts [customize]
-----> home tab
------> superscript
and apply the new shortcut key F7 and assign, it saves changes in: Normal.
pressing F8 (subscript) does not bring up whatever F8 did though.

Word? Can you then assign the keyboard shortcut?

Also, are you using any add-ins with Word, add-ins that could possibly cause
conflicts between key assignments?
