Yas'm I surely did! use the alternate method that is! And that's when all the
crap started. You'd think they would already have the uninstaller assistant
installed for this purpose! Well long story short I ripped it it out maualy
out of the reg. And of course it fought back /w .dll files, but thats what
"eraser" is for! To bad it was a good program!

It's uncommon to have a security applications un-install utility tool
included with the product. After all, they want to sell it to you, not
have you un-install it. ;-) So much lost time is spent on this, it amazes
me to see it if you follow any A-V application forums. In the best of all
worlds, you're right, it should be included from the start with the initial
application download, but in the real world it just ain't that way.

You are obviously very frustrated, but taking a step back it's not clear
why you would need to uninstall SAS when you are going to install a
newer version afterward. I forget whether the SAS program install does
this for you or it just installs on top. In any case, any time I
uninstall a program, I run Regseeker afterwards to clear out the remains
(http://regseeker.en.softonic.com/, free version). I don't know if it's
the best registry cleaner out there, but it's easily the most thorough
I've come across, including some I've paid for, such as jv16 powertools
(to be fair, each has some things it finds that the next doesn't).

You didn't need to un-install it, the program will usually just install over
itself without any problems the free or the pro version.

I have the pro versions on XP and Vista machines and they go over the top
plus I have the free version on a WinME machine and that just installs over
itself.

I've had no problems with either version.

Very true. I did it last night. SAS Pro 4.21.x install said it had to
uninstall a previous version 4.1.x before it could install the new one.
The process was quick and seamless.

As a side note, if you're upgrading from the free version to Pro,
ignore the instructions about not needing to download the current
version. After just registering Pro version, it showed me up to date in
4.1.x, while 4.21.x is actually the latest.

why don't you try going to their forum at
http://forums.superantispyware.com/
all you need to do is register- there is no spam
and the owners of the software are there all the time to help
just post how you tried to uninstall and they will walk you through to fix
this for the free version or the pro.

and Joan is correct- you do not need to uninstall the older version
If you are using the pro version- a white and blue box will pop up in the
right bottom side of the taskbar asking you to do the update.
If you keep the bug there for the free version it will ask you the same
thing
If you do not, all you need to do is click on "check for updates" and you
will get it too
