Sum Controls, then subtract

I have two controls that I would like to sum then subract. I am doing this
within a form detail (Textbox) because I use this form as a subform on
another.

Here is what I have to sum the two controls and subract them;
=Sum([VacationEntitlement])-Sum([VacationHrs])
but it comes up as "85E+03" I don't understand this.
Anyone got any suggestions.

if the textbox is in the form's Detail section, move it to the Footer
section.
