sum cells with both alpha and values but...

I need to sum up a column with cells tht have both alpha and numbers, but in the column there are blank cells

ieEnglish II 36English I 36Read 180 30Eng II L 36 Prep 0Alg I 36 Key Boarding 38 Chem 36Earth Sc 38Health 38

I need to have the blanks there but need to have a sum of the values in each cell. I was using the formula =SUM(RIGHT(B4:B35,2)*1) Which worked great when i did not have the blank cells. but I now need the blank cells so I get a #value error with this formula
