Hi all,
I am having an odd problem with a user's Outlook Express 6 (on Windows XP
with latest updates).
It has worked fine for months, maybe even years (I am new to this company)
but suddenly when he attempts to send/receive he receives a "The connection
has failed. Account 'gate', Server: 'gate', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110,
Secure(SSL): No Socket Error: 10065, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E".
The confusing part is that this PC can surf the internet and even ping
'gate' or its equivalent IP address fine.
Other users in the same office have no issues and are all configured
identically (as far as I can tell) - same version of Outlook and Windows.
I have tried 'repairing' the network connection, replacing 'gate' DNS name
with the actual IP address within the account settings, adding 'gate' to the
hosts file, creating a new Outlook account, running Scandisk, following an
online guide to re-install the Outlook Express .dlls, but all to no avail. I
have even tried to setup the same account within Outlook 2000, but I get an
equivalent error.
Can anyone suggest any tips?
Thanks in advance.
