I am having lately a sudden reboot prob with my computer. Motherboard is
A7N8X Deluxe rev 1.04 with AMD 2500+ 'Barton' cpu, NVidia FX5200 video, 1024
Mb ram, dual Maxtor 80Gb /8Mb cache drives (on sata via kingwin adapters),
cd-rw, dvd. Powersupply is Enermax 500watt.
This just began recently (1 week ago) but only happens rarely. Any ideas?

If you use WinXP/2k set that it should reboot automaticly if a BSOD
occur. Choose Properties for My Computer -> Advance -> Startup and
recovery settings -> Automaticly restart. The info in the
BSOD-messagne might give some clues.

Any recent updates of any drivers or BIOS? Any changes done in BIOS?
Tried to clock down memory?

Man I don't even want to thinks about this. For two weeks my A7v-266E
Has been re booting. Sometime It would run for hours, no problem, then
reset. I changed network card, hd, mem. Cpu temp was 164F, Pulled and
cleaned heat sink, got the temp to the 140'sF. I even installed Linux.
I finally noted the 5V side was getting down to 4.2......Reset. Now
have new power supply, temp at 127F power at 4.89, I hope I got it..

Good luck
Michael

No changes done since asus released the 1007 bios. I'm thinking that it may
seriously be the power supply but I guess I was also hoping that it was
something much cheaper to fix. lol
I've actually had to shut the machine down totally and use my old 750 T-bird
setup for now since it has now begun to reset once it attempts to access
either hd, cd-rw, or the dvd drive so it it's basically stuck in a reset
loop. :-(

What power supply did ya go with? Thinking I may have to do the same since
my system runs at a cool 34c with seti@home running 24/7. I was kinda
praying the ps wasn't it but I think I'm doing so because of the price of
the reliable ones is high (looking at an Antec True550). Ah well, guess
I'll be of to the comp parts store sometime this weekend since I don't want
to have wasted my money on the snazzy new flat panel display sitting on my
desk in the off position.

Turn OFF DMA on all your block I/O devices. Run the system, if it is
stable re-enable DMA on each time one at a time and repeat until the
problem re-appears.

Spontaneous reboots like this are very often the result of a DMA error.
