sub report problem

I have a main report with a sub report. The main report has applicants in
the detail section. I have the sub report returning the joint applicant
linked to applicant id. I need to have a complete count on the number of
applicants including the sub report applicants on the main report for each
agent . I have added a count on my sub report and tried to pull that number
to the main report. Cannot get it without the # error or #name showing up.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You add following to the ControlSouce of the textbox where you need the total
form the sub report.

=[TheSubreportName].Report!TheSubreportTextboxName
