Styles carry over column breaks

When I put a column break in a document the column break line follows the
formatting of the first line in the new column (so if change the style on the
last line of the first column I also change the formatting of the first line
of the new column). On the forum I have found how to fix this for a page
break (Paragraph->Options->Line & Page Breaks->Page Break before) but I can't
find any way to do this for coumns. Hope someone can help

Unfortunately, there's not a "Column break before" option, so the best you
can do is apply "Keep with next" and "Keep lines" together formatting for
the paragraph and as many after it as are needed to force the text into the
next column.

Thanks Suzanne, that's unfortunate. At least I know now to stop looking. For
my pruposes I'll have to continue putting an unformatted blank line of 1
point type at the head of the column
