Style Formatting Question

I have a large document that was given to me to reformat. This document is a
mess. I am trying to apply the same body text style to all the body text.
This document has supescript numbers to indicate a reference and also
footnotes. When I apply the style to the paragraph, any superscript gets
changed to regular text. Is there a way to apply the style and still keep the
superscript numbers. Also is there a way to apply the same style to all the
body text in the document all at once, the only problem is that the document
has a number of styles applied to the body text. As I said this document is a
nightmare it has no many different styles, automatic numbering on some of the
heading and just typed in numbering on others and I need to format it so that
it looks good. At this point I will have to manually format so that at least
when printed it looks ok.

Thanks very much for any help.

Best regards,

1. Make a copy of the document.

2. Select the entire document and apply your body text. Press Ctrl-Q
Ctrl-Space to remove all manual formatting.

3. Use Find and Replace to fix the footnote references. Find: ^f -- leave
the replace box empty, click Format > Style and select Footnote Reference.
Then Replace All.

Ctrl+A to select the entire document and apply the body text style that will
be used for the majority of the paragraphs. Isolated font formatting (such
as the footnote references) should remain intact. Then apply heading and
other styles as needed.
