I recently purchased a new pc and decided to let my kids use the old one. I set it up and am having a problem. XP is saying that my password expired, and to enter the old one and a new one. When I enter it, XP says it is wrong. I have tried capitalizing it, spelling it wrong, etc. Nothing works. When I hit cancel to bypass that step, nothing happens. Windows does not boot up, it just freezes there on the blue screen. I can't even power off at that point without unplugging the pc. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as I now have two young children impatiently waiting for their computer to work so that they can play games on it. Thanks in advance.

Hi

Try pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del twice at the Welcome screen to access the
Administrator's Account. Can you get into Windows that way?

With you new system, download the NT password recovery program (FREE)
from
http://techrepublic.com.com/5208-6335-0.html?forumID=15&threadID=139254&messageID=1535218

Follow the instructions exactly. It will create a bootable floppy that
you will use to boot the other computer into Linux. The program will
remove the administrator's password and set it to never expire.
