I was trying to open a Word file that was corrupted, so I decided to try to
open it in WordPad. Unfortunately, at the last second I realized the "open
these types of files with this application" box was checked. Now every Word
doc I have is being treated like an rtf and when I double click on them it
launches WordPad.
There must be a way to undo this preference! If I open a file inside Word
and save it, even if I change the extension to be .doc, I still get a WordPad
file. This has effectively disabled the entire Word application on my PC.
Even the Word icons have been changed into WordPad icons. Any suggestions
anyone? (I'm on Windows XP Professional Version 2002.)
