Stuck E-mail Outbox

I have read and tried all the suggestions for a stuck email to multiple
recipients using Outlook 2007. This is what I have tried:

Using safe mode - no success it tells me it in in the progress of sending
and can't be deleated or opened.
Opening - no success it tells me it in in the progress of sending and can't
be deleated or opened.
Normal mode - no success it tells me it in in the progress of sending and
can't be deleated or opened.
The Outlok application continues to try and send the document and ties up
respurces on my laptop but never is successful.
Any ideas of how I can go under the hood and delete the file?

I had trouble with a stuck outbox message too. It was a function of having
sent a too large attachment with a message (I exceeded the 9MB max I think).
The work-around was to shut down & restart Outlook each time I wanted to
actually send an e-mail, else it, too would get stuck in the outbox. So, I
put the Outbox in my "favorite folders" area, so I could SEE if a message was
trapped. Every so often I'd re-start Outlook & hit send/receive. That way
the messages were sent (check by cc-ing yourself & checking to see if you got
your copy). Ultimately you have to get rid of the offending "too big" e-mail
with attachment (photos for me), so you can get back to normal operation. I
had a tech guy help re-set some of my Outlook settings & dump out that old
e-mail. I think he had to reset my profile. Now I definitely reduce the
size of photo attachments!
