Strange Screen Saver Problem

B

Bill Crawford

I have a new computer with XP Home Edition with all critical updates and
Direct X 9.0 installed, NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 display card and a Sharp
17inch LCD monitor. Using the desktops and screen savers that came with
XP, the screen savers will come on as configured with an application
such as Quicken, loaded and no activity with the Mouse, etc as expected.
When all applications (except those that are loaded with startup, such
as fire wall, etc.) are closed the screen savers will not activate. So
the monitor has the desktop showing all night. I have tried several
combinations of desktops and screen savers and none work.

Any help in correcting the problem will be appreciated.

I don't seem to have gotten any suggestions for this problem. I have
apparently solved the problem by installing a newer video driver just in
case anyone has a similar problem.

Well I spoke too soon. I still have the problem. I hope someone has a
solution. It is weird - it will come on with an application started but
not with on the desktop and icons. Help!!
