Strange problem with search and Windows XP

Hi to all...
I have a tstrange problem winth windows xp.
If i launch a search via start->search it's all ok, but if i open every
explorer window, and after launch a search (of files) the windows will
freeze, and the only method to close the window is to close (and let ot
auto-reload) explorer.exe...
What can cause this strange behaviour?
I've already deactivated the Indexing service and have already
reinstalled the search assistent (launching the file in the inf
folder).

Corrupt Windows files could be responsible.

Try using the System File Checker, which is still present in Windows XP.

I've done the sfc, it has taked some time, but nothing has changed :-(
Any other ideas?
