I have a Windows XP Home SP2 machine.

I can connect to the internet, do normal stuff and everything, but everytime
I try to download a file, it shows off the dreaded PCBD page.

Things I have tried -

1. Downgrade to IE 6.

2. Register all the DLL's possible for IE ofcourse.

3. Reset all the settings back to normal.

4. Uninstall & Reinstall IE 6 from Add/Remove programs.

But the problem stays. Anyone know why?

What types of files are you trying to download?

Please provide a link.

1= First, try to clean up your caches, Internet files and delete cookies
by doing this:
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Taps:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
Click on content Tab then click AutoComplete Button and there click to clear
the Forms and Passwords.
Close the IE Properties and Hit F5 to refresh, try to open a page, does it
download or open normal?.

hen download this software and update it then run a scan for malwares:
http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php

Open a run command and type in:
regedit.exe click [OK].
On the Registry Editor locate this KEY;
[-]HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{c90250f3-4d7d-4991-9b69-ac5c5bc1c2ae6} Delete
the value {c90250f3-.......} and Close the Registry and Reboot your machine
and try to connect.
If still no joy then try to this:
Again open a run command and type in:
regsvr32 /i mshtml.dll click [OK]

(note the space between
Reg32_/i_mshtml.dll)
regsvr32 /i shell32.dll click [OK]
netsh winsock reset click [OK]
Reboot your machine and try to establish connection.
HTH.
Let us know.
