I've got a spreadsheet which includes a list of numbers like the one below.
But, some contain a letter in the middle. They're warehouse location
identifiers - never used for math:
6074
6075
7008
7030
07D08
07D30
07D84
07F08
07F30
Today, I needed to create a text file for another program to use. So, I
opened a new sheet, formatted all target cells as text, and copied the list
of numbers to the new sheet using Paste Special, Values. The identifiers
which contain a letter vanished. The new sheet had NOT been saved as a text
file at that point - it was still just a new, unnamed Excel sheet. Is Excel
seeing those values as hex, or......what? I've never seen anything like
this.
