Strange Blinking Cursor Icon

Guest

I have Windows XP Pro with SP2. Sometimes i get a picture of a tiny CD
blinking next to my mouse pointer. Although it seems to happen most often
after I go online, it can happen at any time. I can't seem to get rid of it
without rebooting. Although sometimes I get the icon right when I first boot
up.

What is it and how can I get rid of it? I tried all the options about mouse
icons but they didn't work.

Your CD drive is accessing the CD that's in it. Take the CD out of the CD
drive.

That's what's strange. There is no CD in the drive. I have one CDROM drive
and one DVDRW drive and neither one has anything in it.

Any ideas?

Open C:\WINDOWS\Cursors and see if the CD cursor is in there.

If it is, what's the name? I.e. somename.ani or somename.cur.

If you don't find it, try doing a Search on your machine for *.ani and *.cur
and see if it shows up.
