Strange behaviour of Internet Connection sharing

Stefaan Somers

I've set up a shared internet connection. I have 1 laptop with Windows
2000 inserted into my network, and it can perfectly use the shared
internet connection to browse web-pages.

I've also a windows XP PC in my home network. I can open certain
pages, while for others I get "Page not found". Very strange, it's not
recuperating them from cache, because it contains the latest
information.

Any help would be most welcome, because I'm getting out of ideas

I saw this behavior not too long ago while setting up ICS. I have two
98Se and one W2k, one of the 98Se acted as ICS gateway/host and the
problem was shown on the second 98Se. In my case the ICS client computer
didn't know where the DNS were (I have a fixed IP setup for my home
network) so my guess is it probably used the gateway as the DNS and
could only visit pages just visited by the gateway. Once I manually
added the DNS IP addresses then everything worked as expected.
