Storing Outlook data on network

Big Guy

Hi.

I manage a Novell network. We are currently using an OLD e-mail client and I
would like to replace it with Outlook 2003/2007. Outlook would only be used
for pop3 and smtp, but I would like to store the user's data (messages,
address book, calendar) in their home directory on the Novell server. Is this
possible?

Thanks!

It's possible but will likely lead to corruption. It's not supported by
Microsoft and for good reason. Outlook requires constant read/write access
to the PST (Outlook data file). Too often over a network, this access is
interrupted. Even if it's just for a second, you can end up with corruption.
The PST file must be kept locally.

It would be better to copy the data file when Outlook is closed to the home
directory.
