Stopping the Active-X message box

Is it possible to eliminate, and never have to see again the message box
that says "Your current
security settings prohibit running Active-X controls on this page. As a
result, the page may not display correctly"?

Sure.
Tools | Internet Options | Security | Customize
and enable ActiveX controls.
Make sure you're thinking about what you're enabling.

Ordinarily I don't allow anything to get through my machine; naturally I get
all kinds of message boxes. I've now set the Internet zone default at medium
security, disabled Script ActiveX controls marked safe for Scripting,
enabled download of signed Active-X controls (so as to *not* get a security
warning on everything), High safety on Java Permissions, and enabled
Active-Scripting.

In the past I disabled both Java Permissions and Active Scripting, and
*never* had any Active-X controls set to prompt, but would get the annoying
message box stating "Your current security settings prohibit running
Active-X controls on this page. As a result, the page may not display
correctly." This I could understand if I had it set to *Prompt*. If you set
it to prompt what happens? Does one get a bigger warning message accompanied
by a 40 piece orchestra and the blaring of trumpets and timpani?

Thanks Frank, along with Holiday/New Years cheer to you.

If you set it to Prompt, instead of the warning you get a dialog asking you
if you want to let them run.

It still amounts to an "interruption" and requires one to click yet another
thing. That's what I'd like to avoid if possible, but alas...it's not
destined to be.

Thanks again from-

Lucky,

I agree with you. This is yet another example of MSoft trying to wear
down users. Maybe it will be fixed in the great SP2 for XP, but I
won't hold my breath.
