stop word from changing multiple equal signs to doulbe solid line.

How do I stop word from changing multiple equal signs to doulbe solid lines.
Tools/Autocorrect/Replace Text as you type is unchecked. In fact, I have
unchecked all items in the enitre Autoformat, auroFormatAs you type, Smart
tages dialog boxes.

There is obviously one you missed, but you wre right next door - go to
Tools>AutoCorrect Options>AutoFormat As You Type & remove the check for
'Border lines' - there might be a few others there you may be able to do
without as well.
