stop office 2000 from updating access 97 to access 2000

I have office 2000 small business. I have to reinstall Access 97. Every time
I do it upgrades it to Access 2000. Even though I do not have it on Office
2000 disk. I need it to stay as Access 97

thanks

Uninstall everything that belongs to all versions of Office.

Reboot the computer.

Install your Office 97 related components.

Install your Office 2000 related components, BUT make sure you install the
Office 2000 stuff to a different directory, and if the setup utility prompts
you to "upgrade existing office 97" stuff, say NO.

You will then have to manually fix up some shortcuts on your start menu so
that you have one for Access 97, and one for Access 2000.

I did about a year with Access 97, Access 2000, Access 97 and Access 2003
all on the same computer. They will safely ignore each other as long as you
have separate shortcuts to launch them.
