Stop: C000218 Registry Error and Parallel Install

I am receiving a C0000218 Registry Error on My Toshiba Laptop. Because the
data is very impotant to me (Isn't that always the case), I do not want to
format and start over without atleast attempting to backoff the data. Due to
this being a OEM XP install the KB307545 the does not suggest I try the
recovery solution, my question is why can I not do a parallel install, bring
the system up and then backoff the important data? I am in need of everyones
thoughts..

Yes, that's probably the easiest solution assuming you have the space.
