How to take ownership of a file or folder in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308421&Product=winxp
In XP Home you have to boot in safe mode to see the security tab. In XP
Pro you have to disable simple file sharing.
| Pam,
|
| I am having a similiar problem. I had backed up the data from within
My
| Documents and have replace my notebook. I have tried to restore the
files to
| the new system, which did work. The problem is that I can see the
folder on
| my new computer but I can't access the files and get the same message
you
| have.
|
| The problem does appear to be related to access permissions. At this
point I
| am trying to delete the folder just to regain my drive space but It
will not
| allow me to delete it either.
|
| I need help also and I think our problems are related.
