Still Pics won't display

My pictures won't show up in the preview screen when I drag them to the
storyboard/timeline. Nor will they show up in a finished movie.

I have tried resizing to 640x480 and have tried changing formats from JPG to
BMP.

I'm using Version 2.1.4026.0 in XP

One thing to clarify. When I click them in the collections screen they
preview fine. When I drag them to the storyboard, the preview screen goes to
black.

When I play the timeline, all titles, videos, etc. show fine. But, when it
reaches a picture (jpg or bmp), the preview screen goes black until the next
video clip.

It may be worth a try to reduce your
Graphics Hardware Acceleration as
per the instructions in the following
article. If an improvement is realized...
you need to update your video driver.

I tried both. Even updated my driver and no change. When I click the

the storyboard/timeline the preview goes black.

Anybodody else?

Nothing. I can't believe this. It just seems like it would be a simple fix.
I guess I'm gonna have to find a different software.

Sorry...that's all I can think of.

Just to experiment...did you try
saving the movie to see if it might
play correctly in Windows Media
Player?

Maybe it is a simple fix...you
just haven't discovered it yet.

How did you change the format to bmp?

Hi Graham...

That's a good question. Makes me wonder
if the .jpg files were just renamed.

To answer that last couple of questions:

I tried to save it but the pictures still don't show up.

Also, I changed to bmp using Windows Picture and fax Viewer.

What happens if you put one of the MS supplied pictures from My Pictures on
the timeline?
If you start a brand new project and just use one of those pictures does
that show up?

Is it possible that all you did was rename
the files from xxyyzz.jpg to xxyyzz.bmp.

If you try to open a renamed file in an app
like IrfanView...it will warn you the the file
has an incorrect extension and will offer
to correctly rename it for you.

To do a format conversion you must open
the files in an image editing program and
resave them in the .bmp format.

You can use MS Paint or you could try the
following freebies:

FastStone Image Viewer

Download Irfanview

(get the plug-ins too)

Thanks!! That worked. I went to the link and followed his instructions for
manually re-installing MM. All seems good for now.

Thanks so much for your help
